My ancestors are from Portugal and India
I was born in New Zealand, in Wellington
I now live in Napier and acknowledge Ngāti Kahungunu as having mana of this land.
Becs is my name.
Do your best, treat people well, stay curious and lean into the rooms that challenge you.
I’m Becs, a lover of people, a storyteller, and a partner in helping others bring what matters to life and shine in the process. I believe communication is the heartbeat of connection and, when done with intention, it can change minds, touch hearts, and leave an impact long after the words have faded.
I spent more than a decade chasing the news and loved being a journalist at some of Aotearoa’s leading media outlets, including the Herald on Sunday and New Zealand Woman’s Weekly. I stepped into communications leadership at Counties Manukau DHB’s charitable trust, then contracted to leading PR agencies before joining NSPR (now Sayso). I’m proud to be a Sayso boss babe and hope my sons see that hard work, purpose, and kindness can take you far.
Our best work happens when our clients and partners climb each mountain with us, tackling the steep parts together and celebrating (high-five!) at every summit. I love that some of my favourite people are still out there, waiting to be met – maybe today will be that day.
Things you should know
I like tackling awkward conversations first thing. Let’s address pain points, communicate to understand, discuss fixes, and get aligned.
Beach walks or gym sessions with bangers playing, followed by a trim flat white, kick my day into gear. Stress is left at the door, endorphins buzz, and ideas have space to turn over.
My family, the sea, good food, wine and great people, belly-aching laughs, sailing, travelling and chocolate (Whittaker’s Peanut and Caramel Brittle to be exact) are my shortcuts to joy.
